Summary

Clipwell is designed as a local-first Mac clipboard utility. Clipboard history is stored on your Mac so you can search, preview, edit, translate, and restore recent clips.

Data Collection

Clipwell does not require an account and does not upload clipboard contents to a Clipwell server. The current planned App Store version does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Local Clipboard History

When clipboard monitoring is enabled, Clipwell reads the macOS pasteboard and stores supported clipboard items locally on your device. You can pause monitoring, ignore selected apps, limit history length, and clear history from the app.

Translation

Clipwell can translate selected clipboard text between Chinese and English through the OpenAI-compatible endpoint configured in the app. Translation sends only the selected text and translation prompt to that endpoint. Clipwell does not operate a separate translation cloud service for clipboard history.

If you contact support, you may choose to share diagnostic details. Do not send sensitive clipboard contents in support requests.
